It’s official! Valve announced today after last week’s teaser images that they are bringing their Steam game distribution service to Mac OS X this April. This includes Valve games such as: Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life Series. Valve also announced that Portal 2 would release simultaneously on Windows and Mac.

Valve also promoted a new feature of Steam called, “Steam Play,” giving players who purchase Valve games on either Mac or PC the ability to play on the other system for free. With the announcement of Steam coming to Apple, Mac gamers can expect other third-party titles to come flooding their way in the near future from game developers like EA, Activision, and SEGA to name a few who currently distribute their games on Steam.
